Blood Bank

Blood banks are still using paper-based process to track the donors. They should have put it online so that donors can fill out the forms before they come to the Center. In addition, blood is a DNA carrier. If we have a DNA reader, then why don't we use the blood sample to track down the donors instead of the paper trace?

Salsa

Salsa instructors are indeed maters of body languages and physical education. As we know that physical education can be just learned from books or computers. One needs the move his butt and get sweaty. Analogy was used intensively. For example, how to rise the body like a snake? The instructor named body parts: A, B, C, D, E, F... A is stomach; F is the head. Well, first rise A, then B, then C.... Use a wall to assist the curvature body rising...imaging you are facing a wall, touch A first, then B, then C, then D....finally your head.

Physical education = body langauge (component) + analogy (process) + imagination (process) + sweat (process)

When the 3D ultrasound imaging system was used in hospitals, many radiologist didn't like it because they feared to loss their jobs. It took them many years of training to be a radiologist.

Life is Interaction

Life terminates as its vital interactions ceased. However, interaction sustains: bacteria growing, insects gathering and water running. That's my 'incanationism' view of lives.

Noises and Signals

One man's noise could be another man's signal. In old days, a telephone modem converted the data traffic into sound patterns: low, or high pictch tones and variation of the frequencies. Today, when an FM radio is on, we often can hear the mobile phone signal coming before the phone rings. Sometimes, even the phone is quiet, we hear the short click sound signals that indicates the data traffic while an phone is off line.

I often predicted the coming phone rings afew seconds before it happened.

Rock Artist

Rock art from Tibet. Who were the artists?

Life on Rock

A rock art from Ninxia, China. They seem having fun.

Rock Art

More animals in the rock art from Qinghai, China. Look the ancient Picasso.

More Cave Men

A rock art from Giuzhou, China. Why the cave paintings around the world are so similar? Many of them were about animals: a food or a tool for living. This one is a bit realistism. Even somewhat Moore's style with the hole inside the bodies.

Cave Man

Cave painting from Mongolia. Cave men didn't have
computers, nor cars. But they still had fun. According
to an HBO program, cave men worked for 5 hours and
entertained for 3 hours per day. Question - how do we
verify this?

Forever Young

Talked to Center for Quality of Life folks last Friday.

What's QoL?

Life is a river. It starts with a little stream, then stronger, and then slowly moves toward the ocean. But why slow down? My grandpa was 89 old when he continued to eat fat meat. I told him that it is not a healthy food. He said, "Why? If I don't eat now, then when I have the chance?" I then thought he was right. He didn't have teeth. Fat meat was the better food for grandpa.

My friend is 91 now. "Life after 80 is miserable." He lives alone in own house and drive every week for shipping food. He read newspaper every morning and watch TV, and has naps. I think he could live over 100. But he said, "To me, long life is a torture!"

I think the retirement system is the blame. The elder we are, the more ventures we should take. That sounds a way for QoL.

HAL and Lip Reading

What is Ambient Intelligence?

Perhaps the best example is the robot HAL in the movie Odessy 2001 who can do lip reading while sound signal was not available.
